Grrr. Roadrunner was down again last night! I finally gave up and went to bed early for a change. Before 10pm, even. Sheesh.

But, while internet-less, I did manage to write the new first chapter and patch together the second chapter of AbNo the Revision. The first chapter flew by. I’m looking forward to the next one. :) This might just work.

Today I want to post some more auctions, and get a bit further on AbNo. I have a stack of books on my desk ready to post, and more downstairs. Yippee.

You know, I figured out something last night. When the story isn’t going well, I don’t go well. With anything. This is perfectly understandable to me, but probably not as understandable to non-writers out there. :)

More later… have to get ready for work.

January 30, 2002

I’m merging the two AbNos into one. Beginning now. I have George Winston: Forest playing, I’m well-stocked with peanut butter crackers and tea, and I know where I’m going.

The road is not going to be fun. In fact, it will be quite bloody. And Sennet’s probably going to hate me when this is over, but oh well. Such is the life of a writer.

Okay again…

I think I’ve figured it out. This is going to be… interesting. I’m smushing the two books together into one. AbNo1 and AbNo2 are going to equal Absolutely Nothing, the novel.

See? You were right. I’m nuts. But wait! This might actually be a good idea, says I. See, I have this plot going on, and I wasn’t quite happy with AbNo1 as it stood either. This way… this way just might work.

So, today/tonight I’m going to write out a chapter-by-chapter outline and then write the darned book. I’m going to have to cut and paste a bunch of stuff, and reread both AbNos, I think, but if I keep the new premise in mine, it shouldn’t be too bad. :) Wish me luck. I have a feeling I’m going to need it.

Okay…

Going ’round and ’round with AbNo2, trying to decide what is wrong with it. I think I’ve reread it three times now.

But I’m getting close. I had a premise to begin with, and I’ve gone astray a bit. I might need to rewrite the whole thing, or at least everything past Chapter 2. Phooey.

Here’s the premise:

Susan Kline only wanted to spend a quiet evening with her ghostly grandfather, but when a random act of kindness hurtles her into the middle of an endless war, she must fight Faerie itself to save herself and the man she has grown to love.

I’ve lost the premise, I think. I had Susan and Cullen not knowing each other beforehand, but what if they do know each other, albeit slightly? This would mean quite a bit of rewrite, but I’m not at all happy about where it’s going. I like pieces of it, but not the whole. :)

So. I’m going to reread it again. (I’m thinking I might need to print it out and make notes that way.) I almost need to know the ending now, though, not just the premise. Hmm.

Anyway. More later, I’m sure…

Preditors & Editors Poll

Well, the P&E poll ends tomorrow. The Tenth Ghost has been hovering around #20 all month. That’s not bad, considering! If you haven’t voted yet, maybe you should go check it out! There are a lot of good books there…

Road Runner’s been screwy all evening, too, and now it’s raining. I guess they did call for thunderstorms, didn’t they?

January 30, 2002

Yikes! No updates all day long? Wow.

Well, I was actually busy at work today. And watched most of “Brother’s Keeper” on USA–it wasn’t worth the effort, really. Dumb movie. Didn’t get much of anything written, either. Pretty much a wasted day. :(

Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Goodnight.

January 29, 2002

Morning time, and I’m graphic-ing stuff for work. Shouldn’t take me too long, I don’t think. A fire truck just pulled into the parking lot, but I have no idea why. It’s back where they keep the maintenance trucks and stuff now.

January 29, 2002

Okay! Back upstairs to get some writing done, I hope. I have to rewrite quite a bit, so I’m going to be gnashing my teeth for a little while here. :) Bear with me.

More later, maybe.

Working down the basement this evening after having to go run some errands earlier. I get to work at home tomorrow morning, fixing some graphics with Photoshop! Wow. :) Shame I can’t work at home every day.
