I am sick today. After only getting about 2 hours of sleep last night from the coughing and various other things (let me just say that there had better not be any calories in snot) (Yes, ewwwww) I slept badly until about 11am, woke up with the predictable headache, then discovered that I didn’t have any water because there was a water main break that they had been trying to fix for two days and didn’t bother letting anyone know that there was a water main break. Thanks a bunch, utility company.
Luckily, I guess, this was after I boiled my water for my tea. Or else I would have been really mad. Hopefully there wasn’t anything bad in the water that I brushed my teeth with, now that I think of it.
*sigh*
So I took the only medicine we had in the house, which hasn’t really helped, and then felt well enough to fold my socks and underwear, which is one of the things I didn’t get done with last night. That morphed into “why not just clean out the top of my closet while I’m at it?” and now I’m done with that.
I found the wrapping paper I thought I had purchased last year, and some bows. I predictably put it “somewhere safe” and not with the rest of it (which is on top the china cabinet in the dining room) and forgot it was there.
I have a laundry basket full of costume-y type clothing to sell on ebay. Which is good. I’ve kind of gotten out of the vintage clothing collecting–I mean, if I see something really reasonable, I’ll snap it up, but my kind of vintage clothing is hard to find nowadays. **pines for the time when I could find 20s dresses at Goodwill** Ah, those were the days.

What’s left to do: (In the office)

The rest of the fabric that needs to be put away. There’s not as much here as it looks.

All my yarn is in one place for the first time ever. It all needs to be sorted. The big suitcase will hold yarn as well–it had scrap fabric in it.

My craft desk still needs to be cleaned off. The craft supplies downstairs in the hallway pretty much go on this desk and need to be put away too.

But first, before I go to bed tonight, I have to put away my clothes, because if I don’t, I won’t be able to sleep in my bed. (This is probably three weeks worth of clean laundry, plus everything that was hanging up on the coat rack that is now behind my door, plus everything that was hanging up on my wardrobe, so it’s worse than it looks. Honest!
And I will get that done tonight.
All in all, however, I think I got a lot done this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to continue my momentum and get these four things done this week. If I can do that, then I will finish up in my bedroom next weekend and work in the upstairs bathroom as well. I should be able to get that done in less than a day. And then, I can move somewhere else and feel like I’m making some major progress. (Who knows, maybe I’ll be on track to start posting auctions next weekend like I was hoping to do.)
With the new setup, all auction items will be in one place, the dining room. I do have my folding sewing table that isn’t being used at the moment, so I’m thinking that once things are cataloged and photographed, I will place them in a neat pile on and under that table out of the way. That way, everything’s together and can be found easily, and isn’t cluttering up another room.
I think this might just work.
And I’m hoping to write a bit tonight, if I get my clothes put away in a timely fashion, because I left Emle in a rather compromising position and I really want to find out what she does. (This is the added section of the edit that I started working on a little while ago.)

Unfortunately, not all of it fits in the trunk. Argh!

I’ve been up here since around 9:30am, and moving right along. The pile in front of the closet is gone, the fabric has been folded and put away, and I actually found room for the rest of the sweaters.
Now I’m in my bedroom, where I’m working on the pile of yarn in the big basket that has been blocking me from closing the door for months. I will be happy to have it gone! I’m going to bag up all the tangled yarn and see if I can give it away on Freecycle again, since that worked last time and I’m really not expecting to ever get around to untangling it.
In the meantime, I’ve been doing laundry, which is a good thing, since I was running out of clothes I wanted to wear. (Note: I wasn’t running out of clothes. Just running out of the ones I like.) Once I get the pile done in my room, I have to go take a shower and get dressed and run a couple of errands, like buy Mabel dog food and a new bone. Vincent needs a mouse too, and the frogs need crickets. Since Bekah bought the crickets the last two times, I think I can afford to buy them this time.
I have a small pile of fabric on my pink chair to fold and put away, and I still have to do my craft desk. But I am progressing. And my hallway is clean, too. All that’s left to move is my former bedside table, which I’m not sure where to stick.

The new desk chair clears under the desk by less than a quarter inch.

Sewing table, all clean and ready to go!

Craft desk still needs to be organized. A lot of that is the shelf that needs to be hung.
The laundry basket is full of scrap fabric and so is the box on top of it.
I’m not sure where the walnut chair will go, but it’s not staying in here.

My patterns need a spot, and so does the milk crate full of ugly fabric to be used for strips for rugs.
The box of new yarn is beside the chair, and the basket of brown yarn is on top of it, ready to be gone through. I’m not sure what Misty is doing.

There is fabric on my craft desk chair to be folded, along with a basket and a container of scrap fabric. Look at how nice and neat my fabric is, though! I am impressed.

Most of the stuff in this pile goes in the closet. There is some fabric here too, though, which will have to be gone through and sorted. If it wasn’t 11pm already, I’d probably work on this tonight. But I think I’m headed for bed, and I’ll finish up the office tomorrow.

What’s left to do:
–Go through the costumes in the yellow trunk and see if I can consolidate the ones I’m keeping so I can put scrap fabric in the yellow trunk, since I have so much of it.
–Fold some more fabric (just a little bit this time)
–Move pile from behind office door and put the stuff that belongs in the closet away.
–Finish cleaning off blue desk
–Clean off craft desk and shelves.
–Hang hanging shelf
–Put away my clothes that are currently piled on my bed
–Put away the summer clothes that have been piled up since I swapped them out. Before summer arrives would be nice.
–Take everything out of above my wardrobe and go through it, and then put back what I’m keeping.
–Put all auction items in Dining Room to be cataloged, photographed, etc.
–Go through the basket and pile in my bedroom that contains craft supply stuff from the last time I cleaned my office. Get it out of my bedroom and put it away!!!
–Clean out under my bed. I’m not really sure what’s under there. Find out.
–Go through my clothes, pajamas, and shoes.
I’m not going to hold my breath to hope I get all of this done tonight, mind you. I’m off tomorrow; I would like to get my office done, at least, but some of the office stuff hinges on the bedroom stuff, etc., so I will be working late tonight.

My pretty cart! I swear I saw one of these on ebay, but I can’t find it now.
I will take it to Burlington to hold small purchases and I will have another thing for people to comment on.

After much thought and deliberation, I moved the mauve chair over beside the papasan chair, moved the oak chair upstairs to use as a desk chair (my former desk chair is going to be my sewing chair), and put the new rocking chair where the mauve chair was. Got that?
The wood is actually across the top too–you can’t see it because of the quilt. And Loki likes it already, obviously.

The new setup. My new table in place with plenty of room to work. That’s my big dough bowl with the gourds in it–it was empty, but when I caught a cat sleeping in it, I knew I had to do something. (And Misty likes where the little oak table is now, evidently.)

A close-up. Isn’t it beautiful?!?

I got home from the auction at 11:30. Yes, PM. Yikes! The one thing I was waiting for, of course, ended up being one of the last things they auctioned off. And yes, I am now the proud owner of a porcelain topped baker’s table.
It has a pull-out bread board, a drawer, and a separated bin underneath that was orginally used to store flour and grains (which I will use, on Dad’s suggestion, to store potatoes!)
Evidently they are called ‘possum belly tables’. Here is one similar on Ebay, although mine has a porcelain enamel top. If I remember correctly, mine only has one drawer, too.
I also got a huge old oak rocking chair that I have no place for, and a small shopping cart (like the wire ones that people pull around for their purchases) only mine is wooden and Very Cool.
I fell asleep last night trying to figure out where to put the rocking chair.
And then, I had a dream. In the dream, Mom, Dad and I were on our way back from somewhere when Dad decided to go the scenic route. I started recognizing some of the landmarks, and before long, we were at the little town that I visited not long ago (in my dreams)–the one with the mall and the shops. Then we came across the town that I haven’t visited in a long time; the one with the little Country Store. (I can’t remember these towns’ names.) We stopped in the Country Store, where I ended up buying a ceramic fountain pen shaped like an Art Nouveau Lady–it was rather odd.
The town hadn’t changed much, which was nice. But it was weird to be there with Mom and Dad, since all the other times I’ve visited, I’ve been alone.

On someone craft blog not long ago, I saw that they stored their fabric folded, in nice, neat piles on shelves. It looked so nice that I decided to take two of the cream colored bookcase’s shelves and try it for myself. And I’m impressed! These are only prints–the solids are migrating to the chest of drawers (so far, a drawer of pink, purple, black, and two of white)–and only the larger pieces of fabric are being housed here. The craft books are on the next two shelves below, and most of my beads are on the very bottom shelf. I might rearrange the beads a bit to make them all fit, but otherwise, it looks quite nice and useable, which is the idea, after all. Since I’m a very visually-oriented craftsperson, I think it will cut down on the time involved looking for fabric for things as well.
I am going to cautiously say that I might actually have enough room for *cough* the rest of the fabric. We’ll see about that, though. Let’s just put it this way: I’m not holding my breath.
And I have caught cold #2 of the year. It’s to the irritating point now, but doesn’t seem to be getting much worse than irritating. Which is good.
And I’m going to an auction with Mom and Dad this evening, so I really want to get a lot done in the office before then. So far so good; I’m making progress. Perhaps I’ll find a small bookcase or so at the auction (for cheap), since I’m still thinking that I need one more. But we’ll see.
